This page contains a
step-by-step guide to getting started. Please understand that
this is not the only way, and if you ask any other
internet-marketing expert they will almost certainly suggest
something else (but if you were to ask a third, they would also have
their own thoughts - that's what internet-marketing experts are
like!), so please feel free to follow the advice of whomever you
please (and trust!). However, following this method should get
you into profit in a fairly short time which is, I suspect, what you
are here for!
- Sign up for the ten-part course - there are
lots of tips on choosing a programme, advertising it, and
various other issues which you will find useful as you start up
your business.
- Get an email address specifically for your
business and another for your trash. This is
FREE if you have a spare account from your ISP
or if you use Hotmail or Yahoo.
- Choose a product to sell. Click on
the 'Recommendations' button for some Red-Hot tips, but
let's say that you choose to sell the Secrets of the
Big-Dogs e-book. This costs you
$19.95
- Sign up for an online-business bank account
appropriate to the product you have chosen - the author of your
product will usually specify that they will pay into an account
with a particular bank. This is
FREE.
- You will now need to write some
e-mail-based advertising for your product which, as most people
respond after about 7 approaches, needs to be at least a seven
e-mail sequence, although 10 - 12 is better. To help with
this, send me an e-mail HERE to receive my series of
e-mail-based advertising. Although I don't particularly
mind if you copy mine exactly, I strongly recommend
that you use them as a guide only - they have been written by me
in my style to incorporate a lot of what is individual
about ME - make yours
reflect YOU in the same way. If you
wish to use mine as a template, the best thing to do would be to
copy and paste each of them into a word-processing programme
and, on a clean page, try to write, in just one or two
sentences, what each part of the mailing is trying to say.
Then delete the original message, leaving only your notes to
work from, and write the e-mail which says much the same as the
original, but in a way which reflects YOUR
personality. Whether you choose to model your
advertising on my e-mails, those from another campaign you liked
(check with the authors that this is OK first), or to start
writing your own from scratch, this is
FREE.
- Get a free autoresponder from Getresponse. Load into it the
e-mails that you wrote to advertise your product.
- To get into profit you need to sell 3
copies of the Secrets of the Secrets of the Big-Dogs book (at
40% commission) - you'll have to do the maths if you've chosen
another product, but two or three sales will usually be
sufficient. However, the online banks often have a rule
that they can't release your funds until there is at least $25
in the account, so you'll need to make enough sales for this (ie
4 copies). There are a couple of ways to achieve
this. The first is to send all of your friends and family
in your personal e-mail contacts list an e-mail containing
either your advertising e-mail or another more personal one with
the link to your sales-site in it. Hopefully, because
they already know and trust you, it should be fairly easy to get
them at least to click on the link to the book's website.
This will act in the same way as the links on this site do, ie
when they click on the link they will be taken to
the product's sales-page, where they can read what the page
contains and decide for themselves whether or not to buy.
If three of them do(or four if you actually want to collect
your money!), you're in business! Once again, this is FREE.
- After this initial step, or for those of
you not particularly comfortable selling to your family,
there are alternatives.
- You could sign up to one of the
programmes in the Secrets of the Big-Dogs book (which are
nearly all traffic-generating programmes after all!) and pitch
the book to the leads they send you using the advertising
e-mails that you have already written. I recommend
the least expensive (Program 6 - Monster Traffic) for two
reasons - firstly, it is the least expensive (!), and,
secondly, they bill you only once. If you decide that
you do not want to continue trading into a second month,
there is no danger of you losing the unsubscribe URL
and being charged for more months' worth of leads
than you wish to use. This will therefore cost you
$10, taking your total investment so far
to $29.95. Now you have to
send your Monster Traffic prospects, which you will
receive each day, the advertising e-mails with your
links to both the Secrets of the Big-Dogs sales page
AND that of Monster Traffic. This can
either be separate e-mails for each product, or a single
series of e-mails containing both links. Even if you
only manage to sell e-books, you will still only need to
sell 4 copies to turn over a profit in your
first month (the same amount as if you hadn't bought your
leads!). The most likely thing would be for you to sell
some e-books and some Monster Traffic subscriptions, although
selling even one will depend on your skill at writing a
persuasive e-mail with a striking subject-line. If you
then decide to continue trading, you need to consider how many
leads you need and whether you want to continue just selling
the e-book as a product or turn it into a programme, which
requires greater and more consistent investment by you, but
for greater returns.
- Alternatively, you could get hold of the
Traffic-Jam Formula e-book and use the advice in that to
promote your Secrets of the Big-Dogs website. If you
sent for my e-mails in step 4 you will have a free
reference-only copy already (ie without reseller
rights). If you didn't you can do so HERE or subscribe
to the ProfitPlan site
(which you can then promote for a profit!), where you can get
a copy of this book with, if you wish, reseller and rebranding
rights (more on this in the FREE COURSE!). This means
that you will still need only four sales to make a profit and
take it home.
Whichever method you choose, remember to be
persistent - on average it takes seven offers of a particular
opportunity to make a sale. That's the AVERAGE! Some
people will buy the first time they see the opportunity, especially
if your e-mail is persuasive, but this means that the rest
may need to be contacted many more than seven times before they
take the plunge. There are also, of course, those that
never will. The skill is recognising when you've probably got
sales from all of those who will buy and then stop e-mailing the
rest. Very few marketers send less that 9 e-mails to a
prospect, few will stop before they have sent at least 12. If
you send more than this, you run the risk of being regarded as a
pest. You then need to get a fresh bunch of leads or try
another chapter from Traffic-Jam Formula e-book!
